First Club Shoot of 2020

Published Mon 17 Feb 2020

More than 20 archers attended the first shoot of the year at Hastings Valley Archery Club, with four new members signing during the day.

Conditions were overcast cloudy with a light breeze during the 3D target shoot on Sunday, February 16.

Three groups took to the wooded course and soon discovered the ten 3D targets were well camouflaged in the thick foliage. Most targets ranged from between 25 to 40 feet.

Of particular concern was a low-lying crocodile target situated in front of a deep gully. Many archers aimed low to avoid the long walk down the steep slope and collected minimal points.

From the point scores the Top Five Archers went through to a 34 metre shot at a fox 3D target in the finals. Keith delivering the best shot, followed by runner-up Austin, Sam and Taree guest Ron (pictured).

Youngsters Sienna and Charlotte joined the group in the finals, one shot landing high and the other short of the target.

Hastings Valley Archery Club returns on March 1 with a working bee and all members are invited to attend.
