First Post Covid Shoot a Success!

Published Sun 05 Jul 2020

And our first shoot back was a success! Andrew has provided a write-up of the morning's shoot:

First club shoot back and what a great morning it turned out to be. Temperature was “refreshing” but a beautiful clear blue sky. Good turnout considering the short notice and expect even more when we have another club shoot in a couple of weeks. This morning’s event was held on the practice range with a couple of the 3D targets strategically placed down range. The bear stayed at the 30 metres but the 3D feline and rabbit tended to move around a bit, even out to 60 metres. Of course, they were not placed in front of the bales but rather on top. Even so, I don’t think any arrows were lost. Merv’s arrows seemed to have a little penetration problem. Any wonder, on closer inspection they looked like recycled broom sticks. Damn they are thick!

The morning finished with the obligatory challenge event. 2 arrows, one at the feline cradled in the bears front paws and the other at the rabbit in the bears jaws. This is where we finally found Keith’s Achilles Heel. The shots had to be taken while seated in a chair on the firing line. I asked Keith if a chappy his age would feel more comfortable if the chair had wheels and very nearly became a moving target for my troubles😉.

Looking forward to another great club shoot in 2 weeks and hope to see as many of you there as possible.

Cheers!
